The Dallas Farmers Market has implemented these increased safety measures: the use of hand wash stations for farmers, food makers and non-food vendors; additional hand wash facilities + hand sanitizing stations in customer areas since regular hand washing, and avoiding touching your face, is the best defense against spreading disease; eliminating all sampling; increased cleaning frequency of tables in booths + common areas; providing gloves for employees + vendors. Farmers’ markets are integral parts of local food systems and economies and provide an opportunity to purchase fresh produce and pantry staples. Each individual circumstance dictates where to make these purchases.
