An evening at the AT&T Discovery District.
Social distancing is made easy at this outdoor attraction! Make your way Downtown to explore the district, its eye-catching features and the restaurants that call it home. Your Valentine’s Day itinerary could include:
- Photos inside The Globe, a 30-foot mirrored sculpture that responds to your movements
- A cocktail on the patio at The Second Floor. The recently opened restaurant is essentially three concepts in one, with its cocktail program being a standout.
- A visit to the AT&T Experience Store, a must for any “Big Bang Theory” fan. The store currently includes a replica of the show’s comic bookstore. (It previously housed a replica of Central Perk from “Friends.”)
A bike ride in West Dallas.
Get some fresh air and enjoy the sites of West Dallas. While there’s some tried and true activities to enjoy in Trinity Groves, take advantage of a Valentine’s Day outing to explore some hidden gems in the neighborhoods. Your V-Day activities could include:
- A visit to the Fabrication Yard. The graffiti park is open to all artists and those who wish to admire it, so it’s likely there will be some creatives there doing their thing while you visit!
- A pint at Steam Theory Brewing Company. Check the calendar for events and specials – Beer30, the brewery’s weekly Happy Hour, is worth checking out.
- Axe throwing at Lone Star Axe. Sign up for a time slot (one-hour and two-hour windows are available) ahead of time for the best experience.
- Grab a slice to-go at Cake Bar. The bakery has a cake ATM outside!
An East Dallas sunset.
Nowhere in Dallas does the outdoors like East Dallas, so if you’re looking to spend Valentine’s Day outside, this is one of the best places to be. Your evening could include:
- Catching the sunset at White Rock Lake. If you have your pups in tow, the bridge near the dog park is an ideal spot (just be mindful of bikers), or you can set up a blanket or chairs at Winfrey Point.
- Shopping for records at Good Records. If you’re into last-minute gifts, invite your V-Day companion to peruse through new and used records and pick one of his or her liking.
- Patio dining at Smoky Rose. Sharing a plate of barbeque in the garden lawn is a great way to end the evening.
A Margarita Mile crawl
Dallas is the official home of the frozen margarita, and the Margarita Mile is a fun way to support local restaurants while taking advantage of an only-in-Dallas experience. For Valentine’s Day, our recommendations include:
- Head to Uptown and jump aboard the McKinney Avenue Trolley. It’s a free ride to your first stop, and while in route, download the Margarita Mile app. Every check-in gets you closer to becoming a Margarita Mile Rookie.
- Stop for queso at Las Palmas. The restaurant is known for canning its own margaritas, and they are tasty!
- Find your way back to a trolley pick up point and head south toward Downtown. Get off at the St. Paul & Woodall Rodgers stop and check out what’s happening at Klyde Warren Park.
- When you’re ready for dessert, walk over to La Ventana. The patio-only restaurant has great margaritas and even better churros! Plus, you can sneak in two other Mile check ins while you’re there (hint, hint).
Window shopping in Knox/Henderson
For those avoiding large crowds and indoor spaces, let the windows along Knox Street fill your need for retail therapy. Local boutiques are mixed in with designer storefronts and big-name brands throughout the neighborhoods, so there’s plenty to see. Here’s what an afternoon in the area could look like:
- There’s plenty to see along Knox/Henderson (Stag Provisions, Sur La Table and Jonathan Adler are good places to start), but if you want to explore further, venture east across Highway 75 for even more shopping options.
- Make your way to Georgie for dinner. It’s celebrity chef Curtis Stone’s first restaurant outside of Los Angeles. Its butcher cuts are the star of the show.
- Come back down to Earth with a trip for dessert at Wild About Harry’s. A favorite in the neighborhood, Wild About Harry’s and its famous frozen custard has been around since the 1990s.
