Downtown Dallas’ iconic Statler Hotel, which is under renovation, will open this fall with a flexible venue space and five new restaurants and bars, headed up by local chef Graham Dodds. The development has partnered with Dallas-based Epic F&B, LLC to concept and operate all hotel food service, including managing the restaurants, bars, catering, ballroom/event space, and room service.
The Statler’s five unique food and beverage outlets will each be conceptualized by Epic F&B; Dodds will head all kitchen operations as culinary director. Epic F&B was formed in 2016 as a partnership between Turn The Tables Hospitality and Plan B Group, Inc. They’re the same team that conceived Bolsa in Oak Cliff, where Dodds served as the original chef.
The six new venues include:
Overeasy. Serving farm-to-table breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and featuring a gourmet coffee bar, counter seating, and a patio on Commerce Street overlooking Main Street Gardens.
Scout. A 12,000-square-foot space with a scratch American menu, shareable items, and craft beer. Scout will feature live music, flatscreen televisions, four bowling lanes, four Ping-Pong tables, billiards tables, and foosball.
Fine China. Full-service lunch and dinner Pan-Asian restaurant and cocktail bar, featuring sake, Japanese whiskies, high tea, communal seating, private rooms, and weekend DJs.
Bourbon & Banter. Underground cocktail lounge with an extensive bourbon and whiskey library, plus craft cocktails.
Waterproof. A poolside roof deck bar and lounge situated on the 19th floor, with 360-degree panoramic views, weekend DJs, resort-style service, and craft cocktails.
Grand Ballroom. A nearly 12,000-square-foot flexible space that will host concerts, large-scale events, and weddings. Full of history, this ballroom once featured performers including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Michael Jackson.
Turn the Tables Hospitality is owned by Chris Zielke and Christopher Jeffers, who also own Bolsa, Bolsa Mercado, The Foundry, Chicken Scratch, The Theodore, Smoke, Smoke Plano, and Bar Belmont. Epic F&B partner Todd Conger, a former CEO of Uncle Julio’s, will lead day-to-day operations at The Statler.
Plan B Group, Inc., is the hospitality design firm led by principals Royce Ring and Alexander Urrunaga, whose portfolio includes Velvet Taco, Whiskey Cake, Mexican Sugar, and Pie Tap Pizza Workshop & Bar. Ring & Urrunaga also co-own Pie Tap Pizza Workshop & Bar.
Ring and Urrunaga also co-own Bolsa and Bolsa Mercado with Zielke and Jeffers.
The Statler will-reopen its doors for the first time in 16 years as a luxury boutique hotel with 159 rooms and 219 luxury residences, plus restaurants, nightlife, retail, meeting spaces, and a multi-purpose events and concert venue. Originally opening as the Statler Hilton in 1956, the hotel is now part of of Curio – A Collection by Hilton.
