For this craft you will need: a flat topped pumpkin/ a hot glue gun/ moss/ garden clippers/ and assorted succulents.

With a damp paper towel, wipe the pumpkin clean of any dirt.

Be sure the top of the pumpkin is completely dry prior to moving onto the next step.

Add a bit of hot glue like so to the top of the pumpkin.

Next, add a bit of moss to the top of the pumpkin until the majority of the top is covered. Apply extra glue where needed then set it aside to dry.

With the garden clippers, take small cuttings from a variety of succulents such as Sempervivium, Sedum, Echeveria and Jade for the top of the pumpkin.

For each succulents stem, remove the lower leaves gently like so. On a side note, you can plant those leaves in soil to grow new plants.

Apply a bit of hot glue to a succulent stem like so.

Working with the larger succulent stems first, apply hot glue to the stems and tuck them to the moss.

Combine the larger succulents clippings on the top of the pumpkin. Vary the colors and leaf shapes for interest.

Fill in all areas of the pumpkin with succulents as you work. Turn the pumpkin as you work in order to assess bare spots.

Finally, add in the medium sized succulents and then the smaller ones. The pumpkin top should be full and lush with succulents. If you have any spaces, simply tuck in more succulents.

Looking down on the pumpkin reveals how various colored succulents work well together to create a beautiful patchwork of texture. Try adding a pumpkin like this to the holiday table or even to your outdoor living space. The pumpkin should last for weeks. When you are ready to toss the pumpkin, simply remove the succulents and plant them in a container.
