Make the holiday season a memorable one for those in need by giving presents, clothing and necessities through the Salvation Army Angel Tree. Choose an Angel, drop off your gift by December 6, and the Salvation Army will make your delivery in time for Christmas. Created in 1979, the Angel Tree is one of the Salvation Army’s most important holiday efforts. NorthPark Center Angel Tree patrons have contributed millions of dollars in donated Christmas gifts to over 40,000 North Texans.

BARK + BUILD DOG HOUSE COMPETITION AND RAFFLE BENEFITING THE SPCA OF TEXAS

The SPCA of Texas, the Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and TEXO, the Construction Association, proudly present the second annual Bark + Build Design/Build Competition and raffle to benefit the SPCA of Texas’ “Home for the Holidays” event. Architects, contractors and design teams come together to create one-of-a-kind dog houses that will be raffled off at NorthPark Center. The dog houses will be judged on both design and construction quality by a jury panel, with various award categories. All proceeds from the raffle tickets, available for purchase at NorthPark Center, will go to the SPCA of Texas. The competition and raffle serves to foster relationships between architecture and contractor firms and raise awareness and support for the SPCA of Texas’ mission, while exhibiting to the public high-quality design and construction from the talented professional teams.
REINDEER PARK AND FESTIVAL

Join Santa, Rudolph and friends for a special festival honoring the most famous reindeer of all. Gather in NorthCourt at 10:30AM for Santa’s arrival at the annual Salvation Army Angel Tree Celebration, and then head outside to Reindeer Park for Santa’s first storytime. Reindeer Park activities include a live reindeer corral, photo opportunities, reindeer games and crafts, a holiday DJ, giving opportunities with the Angel Tree, and holiday treats and surprises.

The sky is the limit for the dogs (and cats!) that make any house a home. The SPCA of Texas’ “Home for the Holidays” Pet Adoption Center at NorthPark Center has provided special adoption experiences for thousands of four-legged animals and their loving new families for 27 years. Assistance is offered at select times to help families choose the right animals for their lifestyle. Regular adoption fees are $100 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months, $50 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older, $25 for senior dogs or cats aged 7 years and older and $25 for VIP dogs and cats (available for adoption for 30 days or more). Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of pet health insurance provided by PetPlan, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a free year-long subscription to Activ4Pets, a rabies tag and a free leash or cardboard cat carrier.

NorthPark Center’s whimsical Scrooge Puppet Theatre has been a holiday tradition for four decades. Charles Dickens’ famous character creates a funny scene through the magic of puppetry by Le Theatre de Marionette. Children of all ages giggle with delight as everyone’s favorite despicable holiday character emerges from his cottage at the bottom of every hour. Come back time and again for this improvisational performance, and be sure to catch the final show on Christmas Eve when Scrooge finally is filled with the holiday spirit.

The holidays are sweet at Camp Gingerbread where little ones can decorate gingerbread cookies with their favorite sugary delights, including frosting, nuts, dried fruit, candies and sprinkles. Proceeds benefit Shared Housing, a non-profit organization that facilitates affordable housing options for those in need. Cost is $12 per child.

Now in its eighth year, the annual Gingertown Dallas is one of the biggest gingerbread house events in North Texas with proceeds benefiting Children’s Craniofacial Association. Originally founded in 2006 by David M. Schwarz Architects, Gingertown is a unique holiday initiative which brings together talent from local design, engineering and construction firms for a live build competition to help spread joy and hope during the holidays. Once completed, Gingertown Dallas will be on view through December 24.

Celebrate the season with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra Christmas Pops Concert at NorthPark Center. Conductor Lawrence Loh will lead the symphony in holiday favorites, including The Nutcracker, The Polar Express and special sing- alongs for the whole family. This free concert takes place in NorthCourt, on Level One between Nordstrom and Macy’s. Food and drink will be available for purchase from NorthPark restaurants.

Continue the spirit of the holidays with the 12 Days of Giving Tree, an opportunity to provide financial support to the Salvation Army’s year-round programs. The funds raised will provide important services like shelter, meals, domestic violence therapy and youth programs like after-school care and music lessons.
