Alamo Drafthouse Opens Fifth Dallas-Area Location in Fave CollegeTown

Alamo Drafthouse DFW is continuing to expand its reach around Dallas-Fort Worth, with a new location planned for the Rayzor Ranch development in Denton, just north of the University of North Texas.

The Denton location, which will be the fifth Alamo Drafthouse in the area, will feature eight screens, approximately 925 luxury recliners, and an attached full-service bar and restaurant, Vetted Well. Vetted Well will follow the lead of the location attached to Alamo Drafthouse Cedars, featuring 32 local beers on tap.

Per Alamo tradition, the theater will showcase new releases, special events, and the company’s unique take on repertory programming. Each theater will have state-of-the-art digital 4K projection and surround sound, and there will be one Large Format Theater showcasing the very best presentation available today, which includes Dolby’s Atmos sound system. Keeping up with an industry trend, the luxury recliners, each equipped with a foot rest, promise “a viewing experience of unparalleled comfort.”

The theater also will continue the company’s commitment in preserving 35mm film, allowing 35mm changeover projection so that both classic films and new releases can be experienced in on the big screen. That will let them present signature programming, like Movie Party celebrations of classic favorites, deep dives into hardcore cinephilia via the Video Vortex, and family-friendly choices like Kids Camp, low-cost screenings that raise money for local nonprofits and schools.

The theater, which is expected to open in June 2018, already has begun the hiring process for about 120 positions, largely from the surrounding neighborhoods. To apply or to learn more, visit drafthouse.com/dfw/careers.
