Description: The Annual MLK Celebration is a long-standing tradition of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center, with a series of events honoring the life and legacy of Dr. King. This weekend-long celebration includes the MLK Celebration Fair, a career and education fair for prospective employees and students; the Candlelight Ceremony hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; the MLK Awards Banquet honoring supporters of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center; and the historic MLK parade. Description: With approximately 250,000+ parade spectators and participants, the MLK parade is considered one of the largest commemorative events held in the United States. The parade begins at the intersection of Holmes Street and MLK Boulevard; it will proceed down MLK and end at Fair Park. Participants include elected officials, high school bands and dance teams, car clubs, horses, local businesses and other community organizations.
