Both functional and stylish, the user-friendly mudroom and spacious laundry room are two spaces that prove a clever design and smart storage solutions make all the difference.

Unexpected Elegance
A long and tall hallway that leads to the garage, the well-detailed mudroom includes different storage options, curated design details and walls painted a deep slate gray that give the space an elegant look.
Curated Look
A handcrafted circular wooden wall mirror placed on each side of the mudroom bench for a quick look before heading out the door, and a large professionally framed photographic print of a burly beast are two of the well-chosen design details in this space. “This mudroom is a lot more sophisticated than most mudrooms,” says designer Brian Patrick Flynn.

Handy Organizer
The mudroom also includes two wall-mounted mail holders with chalkboards for schedule reminders and hooks for easy-access storage of keys. Made from planks of solid reclaimed wood, the mail holders have a weathered whitewash finish for a lovely antique look.
Vintage Appeal Rug
A long overdyed and distressed hand-knotted blue area rug brings rich color and softness to this user-friendly mudroom that connects the main living areas of the home with the garage.

Luxe Bench
The mudroom’s long white leather bench with offers a comfortable spot to change shoes or check emails before heading out the door. The energy-efficient window seen above the bench with custom gray and white patterned roman shades overlooks the patio outside.

Pillows That Pop
A collection of throw pillows eludes a transitional style with leather and cotton patterns and luxe embroidered textures with a contemporary pattern that add color and comfort to the mudroom bench.

No-Fuss Plants
A pair of striking snake plants add texture and a touch nature to the mudroom. The contemporary style of the hardy snake plants fit the decor, and the plants also absorb toxins to help clean the air.
