My Possibilities is a Plano-based non-profit that serves as a pioneering leader in vocational education and job placement for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) throughout North Texas. MP is changing the landscape for adults with IDD.
Their mission is to courageously and relentlessly pursue the full, untapped possibilities of our Hugely Important People (HIPsters), making every day count.
They are determined to improve the lives of HIPsters and their families.
- 62% of parents of adults with disabilities don’t have a plan for the future
- 250,000 people in North Texas have an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability (IDD)
- 8% of adults with IDD are employed in the community
- 52% of adults with cognitive disabilities leave high school without a diploma
Everything they do stems from a belief that we need to constantly improve to reach the highest possibility. They strive to improve themselves so they can see an immediate change in our community and across the country.
Their Story
What began as the vision of three mothers looking for a better future for their children has turned into the first-of-its-kind continuing education program for adults with cognitive disabilities in Collin County.
My Possibilities is a 501(c)(3) for cause organization serving adults with disabilities such as Down Syndrome, Autism, Asperger’s, Prader-Willi, head injuries and more. My Possibilities is the first full-day, full-year educational program of its kind in Collin County.
My Possibilities is designed to provide people with cognitive disabilities the chance to continue their education. We provide vocational skills, socialization opportunities, trade skills, and independent living skills to HIPsters that give them the chance to live the life they deserve.
HIPster. noun. Hugely Important People. Our students. The people who attend My Possibilities are more than a label. They are people with an important role to play in society.
