Statewide home purchases were up 4% last year
The Dallas-Fort Worth area topped Texas in 2019 home sales with a record number of properties trading.
More than 103,000 North Texas homes were sold by real estate agents last year — 3% more than in 2018, according to a just-released report by the Texas Realtors association.
Statewide, a record 357,238 homes were sold by real estate agents. It was the fifth consecutive year for record Texas home sales and prices.
“2019 was another record-breaking year in Texas real estate,” Dr. Jim Gaines, chief economist with the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, said in the report. “We saw the rates of increase for median price and sales volume normalize.
“The national housing market is predicted to be one of the strongest parts of the economy this year, and in Texas we’re expecting another record-breaking year as home construction picks up and interest rates remain low.”
