Scarborough Renaissance Festival 2021 at Scarborough Renaissance Festival Grounds

The festival re-creates 16th-century English village life on 35 acres with 21 stages of Renaissance-themed entertainment. Expect to see jousting knights, falconry, bagpipers, artisan demonstrations, archery, 200 shops and food.(Alexandra Olivia – Special Contributor)

Due to health concerns surrounding the new coronavirus, many events are being canceled. The annual event is back and ready to celebrate its 40th season over eight consecutive weekends from April 10 to May 31. Expect a variety of new shows and artisans along with long-time favorites.

This year’s event will include new safety protocols such as temperature checks, a mask requirement, social distancing and more.

The 2021 season begins with Travel Back in Time Weekend April 10-11. This weekend is also Kids Free Weekend and Seniors 65+ will also get a special discount.

Each successive weekend has a different theme that includes Artisan’s Showcase (April 17-18), Royal Ale Festival Weekend (April 24-25), Live the Fantasy & Spring Celebration (May 1-2), Celebrating Chivalry Weekend (May 8-9), Celtic Weekend (May 15-16), Legends of the Seas (May 22-23) and the Last Huzzah (May 29-31). Each weekend also has a variety of special events.

The annual festival takes place on a 155-acre site in Waxahachie. Period costumes are encouraged and are even for rent at the event.
