What’s better than a Texas road trip? We’ve put together a wildflower scenic drive that takes about eight hours, which you can complete in one day since it doesn’t involve any stops. Get ready to see our state flower like you never have before.

Our trip begins in Marble Falls, which boasts several different patches of eye-popping springtime blooms. Turkey Bend Recreation Area is one such place, along with this iconic structure you’ve probably come across at least once or twice. It has even been given the name “Bluebonnet House” due to the expansive indigo grove out front.
One of the most popular natural areas to visit in Texas, Enchanted Rock is a pink granite blob we’ve all grown to love. Equally beautiful — and almost always overlooked — is the road leading up to it, lined by the most vibrant bluebonnets you’ve ever seen during this time of year.
Perhaps the most well-known scenic drive to see bluebonnets is Willow City Loop near Fredericksburg. This winding, 13-mile ranch road meanders through lush greenery interspersed with eye-popping wildflowers spanning every color of the rainbow.
Heading into the Capital City, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center features more than 900 species of native Texas plants. While the full extent of the breathtaking natural beauty can only be comprehended from inside the park, you can still enjoy some pretty striking color palettes in the comfort and safety of your vehicle.
Just south of Dallas, the town of Ennis has been dubbed the “Bluebonnet Capital of Texas.” The esteemed Ennis Bluebonnet Trails, open during the month of April, are 40 miles of mapped driving routes that weave through some of the most highly-concentrated wildflower blooms in the state.
We wrap up this road trip in Brenham, the home of our beloved Blue Bell ice cream. All along Highway 290, breathtaking flowers of all different colors spring up between March and May. The city even has a Wildflower Watch page on its website, allowing prospective visitors to discover the best spots for that particular season.
