The Plano Arts District will be busy this weekend with both the Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk and North Texas Pride Foundation’s Come As You Are pride festival taking place on Saturday, Sept. 25.
The tenth annual Come As You Are frstival takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Haggard Park with check-in at Plano’s Saigling House, 902 E 16th St. The family-friendly event is a way to bring the community together to celebrate pride in diversity, according to organizers.
Food trucks, live entertainment, giveaways, vendor booths, dancing, kids’ activities, and an after-party 1980s concert by The Teen Wolves area all on tap. The event is free, although the concert that begins at 6 p.m. is $10.
VIP tickets are also available for a $20 donation, which allows some indoor time with light refreshments and alcoholic beverages. The VIP room hours are noon to 4 p.m.
Face masks are recommended as a COVID-19 safety measure. Attendees are also asked to maintain a six-foot space between themselves and others that are not a part of their household. Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout Haggard Park. No firearms are allowed and bags will be checked.
Downtown Plano Art & Wine Walk
The art and wine walk will allow participants to sample selected wines in various downtown Plano shops.
Each person who participates in the wine walk will receive a commemorative glass, a wine guide and a passport so they can keep track of the locations they visit.
Live music, curated art exhibits and special discounts are also part of the event. Entertainment will be provided by Mahagonie and Remy Reilly.
The event starts at noon with check-in at McCall Plaza. Tickets range from $20 to $30 and can be purchased online or at the event.
