Outdoor movies during the hot Texas summer? You bet. Movies start at dusk, so temperatures should be slightly cooler. Options include park and poolside screenings with playtime for kids before the show. Some venues invite you to bring your own snacks and the family dog. Details are on the websites.

The water parks in The Colony and Garland stay open late for Dive-In Movie nights from the wave pool. Themed activities start at 4 p.m., with screenings at 6. The parks will be open until 9 p.m. on movie nights.

FREE Catch a free kid-friendly movie on Wednesdays at Legacy Hall’s Sunset Movie Series. Food and drink options are offered at a variety of eateries in the hall, and seating is first come, first served in the Box Garden. Pups are welcome, too.
