WINTER WEATHER-HOUSE PREP

Home Care

-Wrap exterior pipes/faucets

-Keep the temperature in your home 55 degrees or above if you will be away for an extended time

-Make sure your filters are clean/replace as necessary

-Keep doors and cabinets open to circulate heat where there is plumbing

-Keep faucets dripping at a slow drip if temperatures are below freezing for an extended time

-Know ahead of time where your main water shut off valve is and make sure it is accessible and working properly

-Safely insulate exterior tankless water heaters

-If you have an electric starter fireplace, check to see if there is an option to start with batteries should you lose power

-Keep flashlight/batteries/electrician approved generator available in case of power outage

Pool Care

-Keep the filter running/If you have automatic freeze protection, make sure that system is working properly

-Make sure water is at proper level

-Set valves to “open” or “filter”

-Adjust pool jets upward

-Put heavier pool floats in water (to prevent water from freezing against pool walls)

-Cover equipment in the event of freezing rain

Auto Care

-Check your vehicle’s battery life

-Check air pressure in your tires and fill as needed

-If possible, keep vehicles garages, otherwise, run the engine for a few minutes each day

-Keep flashlight/blankets in your vehicle
