The start of the new year means it’s time for the Dallas Arboretum’s winter discount. Get $5 admission from Feb. 16 through Feb. 23.

Check out what’s growing this season (expect cold-tolerant plants such as pansies and kale) and what the gardeners are planting now for this spring’s Dallas Blooms festival.

The arboretum also has a 1-mile fitness trail for those with step-based New Year’s resolutions.

Admission is $5, free for children under 2.

The Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden will be closed for maintenance.

Parking is $15, $11 in advance.
