Texan Melts replaces Tom + Chee, a national chain that had a successful appearance on TV show Shark Tank, but then changed hands. There were two T+C locations in the DFW: one at CityLine and another in north Fort Worth at Presidio Junction near Alliance Town Center.

Both DFW locations are now Texan Melts and are owned by Greg Sippel, who was the Tom + Chee franchisee. In a release, he says, “We are excited to pioneer our own new sandwich concept at CityLine.”

CityLine marketing director Jessica Robertson chimes in, calling Texas Melts “a great fit for our guests, whether they are grabbing a quick lunch and heading back to the office, or stopping in for an easy family dinner.”

The menu is an abbreviated version of what was offered by Tom + Chee, with tomato-basil soup, three-cheese classic melt, patty melt, reuben, and a build-your-own option.  There are also salads, cheese fries, and mac and cheese.

The glaring omission is the grilled cheese doughnut, which was kind of the signature item.

Located at 1251 State St., Texan Melts will be open 11 am-9 pm Monday-Saturday and 11 am-8 pm on Sunday.
