Get spooked this Halloween.

It may not feel like fall here yet, but the time for getting spooked at creepy haunted houses is now upon us. Grab a group of friends and head over to one of these area haunts, many of which have been recognized nationally for their ability to scare you.

Check attraction websites for specific dates and hours of operation, which frequently change. “Fast pass” tickets typically let you go to the front of the line. Parking is an additional cost at some locations.

Cutting Edge Haunted House

Located in an abandoned meatpacking plant in Fort Worth’s legendary Hell’s Half Acre district, Cutting Edge has consistently been ranked one of the largest haunted houses in the country, as well as one of the most terrifying. The unnervingly realistic setup combines live actors with lifelike mannequins and special effects.

Dark Hour Haunted House

Journey into the depths of evil as you explore Coven Manor and Annabelle’s Asylum. Make your way through the crumbling Transylvanian cemetery that comes alive through animatronics, Broadway-worthy sets and professional actors.

Through Nov. 2 at 701 Taylor Drive, Plano. $25-$32 for Dark Hour admission only, $35-$42 for combo admission to Dark Hour and Annabelle’s, $50-$52 for a fast pass, $72 for a combo fast pass, $85 for VIP admission
