Forman Elementary Christmas Store

I want to bring you something a little different today. Something for the holidays and something that is very near and dear to my heart. This is a project that I’ve been doing now for I guess a little over five years, that my church and other churches help with.

I’m at Forman Elementary and we bring a Christmas store to them every year. This is a school and children who might not otherwise ever be able to buy presents for their family. So the churches come together and almost like an angel tree, and we put what we need on the tree to stock the store.

Now these children have been earning Forman bucks all year long for good behavior, good grades, being caught doing something wonderful for someone else, all kinds of special reasons that they get Forman bucks, and they turn those Forman bucks into dollars for presents.

Now, they could spend their money all year long at the Forman store and buy little toys and whatever all year long. But they know we’re coming every year. And so they save their money, so that they can spend it on their families. So it teaches so many values. It teaches saving, it teaches money, it teaches giving, it teaches good behavior and reward for good behavior.

So it’s just all around such a wonderful program. And the items that the churches bring together is incredible. We have everything from tools, to dad watches, wallets, we have candy, we have Christmas decorations, all kinds of jewelry, scarves, games so that they could buy games for the family. If you can imagine, we’ve bought toys, we’ve bought items for 600 children, and we allow them to get three gifts each.

So if you can do the math, that’s well over 1800 gifts that we have to come together for the family, which so many of these kids can’t buy for everyone in the family, so that what makes a game really cool, so they can all sit down and do it as a family.

So it’s a wonderful project watching the kids faces, they’re so proud that they have done this for their families. It’s just the most heartwarming thing that I do all year long. So thank you for letting me share it with you. Have a wonderful holiday season and a fabulous 2020, and thanks for watching.

Welcome to the Forman holiday store. Come on in and see what the kids are going to see when they walk in for the first time today. Today’s the opening day of our Christmas store, where the kids at Forman Elementary get to spend their Forman bucks that they have saved all year to buy presents for their family. And we’re so proud of them for doing just that, for earning the dollars in the first place, to saving their money to spend it on their family. We’re just, we’re really proud of you guys.

So let’s see what we’ve got here. You can find things for dad, granddad, uncles, you’ve got watches, flashlights, all kinds of tools, baseball caps, warm gloves, warm hats, some socks. Or how about something the whole family can share? How about some chocolates? And then everybody needs notepads and pens, who doesn’t need one in their purse or in their pocket all the time.

You can do frames or candles, all kinds of Christmas decorations. Maybe something for mom or your sister or your grandmother or an aunt. So you’ve got makeup, you’ve got all kinds of jewelry. Oh my gosh. You have a choice of necklaces, bracelets, earrings, watches. How about a coffee mug? Who doesn’t drink a cup of coffee or a cup of tea every day? And maybe if you want it to go on the car, you can just get a travel mug. There’s all kinds of wonderful things you can do.

Or how about something for the kitchen, so you get some towels and something to cook some good food for you. How about body wash, body lotion all put together, so you can have those gifts. We’ve got warm scarves, we’ve got purses, we’ve got gloves, socks, anything you could want for a mom, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother.

How about a game for the whole family? What a fun way to spend an evening, or a weekend playing games. After you pick out your presents, come with me you’re going to check out right here and pay for your gifts, and then we’re going to come on out and we’re going to gift wrap it for you.

And then the final step in the process, you bring your presents out here to one of our wrap stations and we wrap it up, we put it in a really cool sack for you, and you get to take it home and put it under the tree for Christmas morning. So hope you enjoy your Forman store. Hope you enjoy your shopping.

Thank you Plano Bible Chapel and Woodcreek Church for donating to stock the store and make a difference in a child’s life.
